Project description

The backbone of the planned project is the establishment of a network of universities with the long term goal of creating a permanent V4 round-table dicussion on common history, culture and religion. This network contributes to the strengthening of professional relations and exchange of best practices among the participating institutions. The project also creates opportunity for academics from V4 countries to unify and disseminate the knowledge that has been gathered at previous researches.

The programmes to be implemented within the project affect a wider audience of civil society as well beside our primary target group (university teachers and students). We draw in people from many areas into certain programme elements, and we provide access to wider community groups. The described programme elements will get a wide publicity in the countries of the participating universities. We plan to fully utilize the possibilities of the local and national media, and the website of the project will undertake the dissemination of the project. The following programme elements are going to be implemented within the framework of the project:

- Three round-table discussions on common past

- Three worksops on history, societal changes and religion in CEE

- We publish 2 volume based on presentations of workshops

This project is of multi-sectoral nature, being creative and innovative, in order to encourage sustainable co-operation and partnerships, between universities Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary. The project promotes the transnational mobility of academic actors, encourages the intercultural dialogue, the mutual understanding of common past and the transnational circulation of academic and cultural works and products.

The programme elements do not only target the academic environment (university students, teachers), but a broader audience as well, thus ensuring that they are going to have a significant impact.

The participnats of the round-table discussions were experts of the Gál Ferenc Theological College and of the Faculty of Theology of the KU since 2009. To these discussions will join new members: eg. the Facullty of Pedagogy of the KU and that's why we have the letter of intatns of the both deans.

Target groups and groups benefiting from the project

The primary target group of the project are the students, teachers and researchers of the participating universities. The reason for selecting University students as the direct target group is that due to their socio-cultural situation and age, they are open for contemporary political-cultural events and new ideas, and they could be a good basis to establishing further communication forums in V4 countries. In general, this group is the largest consumer of culture, it is characterised by high mobility and tolerant attitude. Young intellectuals, as the future members of the intelligentsia and potential opinion formers, will play an important role in the formation of a common Central-European identity.

Previous experience in the field

The participating universities are developing programs in interdisciplinary studies so that a larger number of scholars from different disciplines get the chance to work together.

The participating universities are regularly organizing academic programs open to public.

Every year many conferences seminars and symposiums are held at the each universities.
